Mary Heller, LCPC, LAC

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Mary is a highly accomplished clinician who brings over a decade of diverse experience in counseling, case management, and crisis support to Montana Psychiatry. Graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Mary has dedicated her career to the art of empowerment. She believes that therapy is a collaborative journey, one where the patient’s innate strengths are validated while the barriers of self-defeating thoughts are systematically dismantled.

With a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a specialized background in Addictions Support, Mary offers a multifaceted perspective on recovery. Her clinical work is defined by its depth and versatility, having supported adults through the complexities of trauma, grief, and major life transitions. She is particularly known for her work with those in high-pressure roles, providing a steady hand for first responders and military personnel navigating the unique stressors of their service.

Mary Heller

An Integrated Therapeutic Lens

Mary’s counseling philosophy is a sophisticated blend of Existential and Humanistic perspectives, grounded by the practical tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. This approach allows her to meet patients in the "here and now," addressing immediate challenges like anxiety and depression while exploring the deeper questions of meaning and purpose. Her goal is for every patient to leave each session with a clearer focus and a renewed sense of self-governance.

Specialized Trauma & Crisis Support

Throughout her ten-year tenure, Mary has developed a specialized mastery in treating Trauma and Addiction. By creating a safe, non-judgmental environment, she helps patients process the "unspeakable" and find a path forward. Her extensive experience with the veteran and first responder communities ensures that her care is culturally competent, honoring the specific sacrifices and psychological demands inherent in those fields.

A Legacy of Service & Connection

Mary’s commitment to healing extends far beyond the clinic walls. A dedicated volunteer, she has contributed her time to Big Brothers Big Sisters, NAMI, and equine-assisted therapy. Her unique background includes a former life in barrel racing and a one-time dream of being a race car driver; however, she found that the nuanced communication required in equine therapy was far more rewarding than the racetrack. Today, she brings that same level of presence and connection to every patient interaction.
