Julia is a Doctoral-level Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing high-acuity psychiatric care with a compassionate, trauma-informed lens. With nearly a decade of experience across the therapeutic spectrum, from emergency psychiatric interventions to outpatient wellness, she brings a rare depth of clinical “front-line” knowledge to Montana Psychiatry. She believes that mental health is a collaborative journey, focusing on empowering patients of all ages to achieve sustainable, long-term recovery.
A two-time graduate of Creighton University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017 before returning to complete her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2025. This advanced clinical training, combined with her ANCC Board Certification, allows her to navigate complex diagnostic puzzles with a sophisticated, evidence-based approach. Having practiced in Utah, Nebraska, and Montana, she offers a broad, multi-regional perspective on the evolving needs of psychiatric patients.
A standout feature of her clinical practice is her expertise in the vital link between sleep architecture and emotional regulation. Her doctoral research specifically focused on optimizing sleep patterns in adolescents to improve psychiatric outcomes. By addressing sleep hygiene and circadian health as core pillars of treatment, she helps patients achieve a level of neurological recovery that traditional medicine often overlooks.
With over eight years of experience in psychiatric emergency care and inpatient settings, she is highly skilled in crisis intervention and trauma-informed support. She utilizes collaborative modalities such as Motivational Interviewing to help patients identify their own strengths and overcome barriers to change. Whether treating mood disorders, anxiety, or severe mental illness, her goal is to provide a safe, stabilizing environment where healing can begin.
As a provider who treats the "whole person," she practices the same balance she encourages for her patients. She is an avid outdoorswoman who finds her own mental clarity while hiking, skiing, and fly fishing across Montana. Whether she is on a weekend camping trip with her husband and her black lab, Blue, or hosting friends and family over a home-cooked meal, she remains deeply connected to the community and the landscape that define her home.
